At 16, Rebecca left school to pursue a career in classical ballet, where at the age of 17 she was the only NZer to be selected into Melbourne City Ballet's (MCB) full time training. Training, performance and touring for 2016-2018 includes being selected for MCB; Sleeping Beauty, Midsummer Night's Dream, Don Quixote, Carman, Echo, Madame Butterfly, Tink, Nutcracker and Unlimited Frequency, also winning two top NZ awards, passing exams with top results. When back home, Rebecca spends time teaching at local dance schools to inspire the next generation of dancers. With dreams of a principal role in a ballet company, this Grant will support equipment and ongoing study through selection for two professional ballet internships for 2019 in Australia.
